Risby sponsors Beverley Grammar School rugby kits

We’re pleased to announce that we’ve partnered with Beverley Grammar School to sponsor their rugby team kits for the next five academic years.

With multiple rugby teams across all school years, students at Beverley Grammar can experience both rugby league and union from years seven to eleven, allowing players to develop a range of different skills and disciplines in the sport.

Joining the team also gives students the opportunity to play against other schools in various leagues in the region, including the Yorkshire Cup, East Riding festival and the Hull Schools Rugby League.

With many pupils playing for local clubs alongside the school team, several former pupils have gone on to play rugby for professional teams including Leeds Carnegie, Hull KR and Hull FC.

A number of current students have also been scouted by local teams – with one pupil representing England Rugby League U16s alongside signing for Hull FC academy, and another playing for the U18s Yorkshire Rugby Union team whilst training with Yorkshire Carnegie academy. Further to this, twelve students are currently representing East Yorkshire league and union teams.

As a school that has a strong sports curriculum for its students, Beverley Grammar has a wide selection of team sports for students to try, including football, basketball, cricket, athletics and golf all available as extra-curricular activities.

Chris Walker, Games teacher and rugby coach at Beverley Grammar School, said: “Sport benefits the students massively here at Beverley Grammar School. Allowing them to learn social skills like teamwork and communication, it also gives them time to develop their enjoyment for sport and physical activity.”
