Richard takes Pride in the Job

  Richard Bettison, site manager of Risby Homes development at Keldgate Bar in Beverley has just been announced as a National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Award winner for the third successive year.  This comes on top of just hearing that the affordable housing element of the site has received the Patron’s award from the Almshouse Association for an outstanding project.

The NHBC awards have been running for 30 years now and are presented annually to site managers who show excellence in the management of their sites.  13,000 builders on the NHBC register are assessed on an ongoing basis throughout the year on a range of criteria including site supervision, health and safety, organisation and attention to detail.

Last year, Richard won a Pride in the Job Award, but then went on to be presented with a Seal of Excellence and become the North East of England Regional Winner at the awards ceremony held in Manchester in October 2009.  Fingers are crossed for this year’s award ceremony to be held in Newcastle in October to see if Richard can repeat the remarkable feat – or perhaps go further to become the national winner.

The Almshouse Association, of which HRH Prince Charles is the patron, judged that the five bungalows and four flats built on the Keldgate site for Beverley Consolidated Charity were of the highest quality and in line with the Association’s ideals of promoting the highest standards in Almshouse development.

Mark Barrett, managing director of Risby Homes commented “Richard and his team are doing fantastic work on the site, the ongoing endorsement of our industry regulator, the NHBC and the Almshouse Association, is proof of that”.

The Keldgate Bar development was designed by Building Design Architects from Beverley and comprises a mix of housing types.  The first two phases of 25 dwellings are now complete and occupied, but work on the third phase which includes a further 7 almshouse properties and 10 four bedroom houses for sale via agents Stanifords.com of Beverley, is currently underway.
